Chelsea manager, Frank Lampard has revealed the biggest thing he discovered after suffering his first defeat as the Blues’ coach.
DAILY POST had reported that Lampard on Friday suffered his first defeat as Chelsea manager after his side conceded a late goal against Kawasaki Frontale in a pre-season friendly match in Yokohama.
Striker Leandro Damiao’s header ensured Frontale defeated the UEFA Europa League holders 1-0.
Speaking on what he discovered from his side’s defeat to Kawasaki, Lampard was quoted by Football London as telling reporters at post-match: “The biggest thing I discovered after today’s defeat was a real appetite and attitude to work in the humidity with jet lag for a lot of the players.”
Lampard added: “Obviously we want to win matches no matter win, but 10 days into pre-season having flown into Japan three days ago brings up a lot of difficulties for us physically.
“That’s where I was really pleased with the players because physically they gave everything in strong humidity.”
Chelsea will now tackle Barcelona on July 13 in their next pre-season fixture.
