EPL: We are Huddersfield Town, nobody must forget that – Wagner reacts to wins

Huddersfield Town boss, David Wagner wants people to remember just how far his side have come after they went joint top of the Premier League on Sunday.

Wagner was quick to remind everyone where his side have come from in reaching the Premier League last season.

“We are Huddersfield Town, nobody must forget that,” he said after the game. “We got promoted via Wembley, we started this season with two wins, two clean sheets with six points, and this is unbelievable”

“This is something where everybody had to invest in so much, and they have done it. So I am very happy for them as these were not lucky points which we have on the board already and we deserve the points.

“And this is very important and the performance was very good as well,” The newly promoted club gaffer said.

Wagner, thought Huddersfield’s Super Sunday win was actually more convincing than last Saturday’s victory at Selhurst Park.

“This was a more deserved result for us today than last week, we gave too many chances away with the defence, but today we were very strong on the defence.”

Aaron Mooy’s 50th-minute strike saw the Terriers beat Newcastle United 1-0 at the John Smith’s Stadium, the newly promoted club’s first-ever home win in the Premier League.

Despite this being Huddersfield’s maiden campaign in the Premier League and their first top-flight season since 1972, they have so far collected maximum points from their opening two fixtures after winning 3-0 at Crystal Palace last weekend.
