Eden Hazard and Diego Costa scored for Chelsea, as they recorded a comfortable 2-0 win over Hull City at Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening.
Jose Mourinho’s men were in front as early as the 7th minute, after Oscar’s cross from the left was headed in by Hazard. But the Blues toiled to double their lead, until Tom Huddlestone was sent off in the second half, for diving into Felipe Luis.
Costa made the game safe, with a first-time finish from a cute reverse pass from Hazard.
Former Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard scored the only goal, as Manchester City kept pace with a 1-0 win over Leicester City.
In other games, Burnley shocked Southampton 1-0, West Brom also beat Aston Villa 1-0, while Sunderland drew 1-1 with West Ham. Crystal Palace were denied a win by Peter Crouch’s tap in.
