EPL Watch: Chelsea defeat Gunners, Southampton lose at Spurs

Wilshere-Fabregas Oct2014

Eden Hazard and Diego Costa both scored in each half, as Chelsea beat Arsenal 2-0 at Stamford Bridge on Sunday evening.

The Gunners travelled across London, hoping to avenge their 6-0 loss against Jose Mourinho’s team last season and started brightly. But they failed to find to create clear-cut chances.

Hazard’s mazy run was ended abruptly by Laurent Koscielny and the referee pointed to the spot. The Belgian stepped up and coolly slotted his spot-kick past Woijiech Szczensy.

Arsenal continued to toil in the second half, but with few minutes to the end, former Gunners skipper Fabregas found Costa with a sublime pass and the striker stroked the ball home, to give his side all three points.

In North London, Christian Erikesen’s first-half goal was enough to give Tottenham Hotspur all three points against Southampton.
