Arsenal manager, Unai Emery has insisted that he is “very pleased” with his striker, Alexandre Lacazette, after he inspired Arsenal to a 3-2 victory over Cardiff City on Sunday.

Arsenal took the lead on the 11th minute as defender Shkodran Mustafi rose well from a corner to head past Cardiff goalkeeper Neil Etheridge.

Cardiff equalised shortly before half-time through Victor Camarasa.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang fired Arsenal ahead again on 62 minutes before Cardiff hit back through a Danny Ward header.

Lacazette put the game to bed ten minutes remaining, however, latching onto a ball from Lucas Torreira and smashing past a helpless Etheridge.

Express UK quoted Emery as saying, “I’m very pleased.

“I spoke with him because I know him at Lyon. I know he has a big capacity to score in the box and when the team gives him good options.

“He has good data to score and today he showed us. It’s good for his confidence.”

The Spanish gaffer opted to start both Lacazette and Aubameyang against Cardiff on Sunday.

The decision paid dividends, with Lacazette providing an assist for his team-mate before scoring the winner.

“They are playing minutes each match and today they started,” Emery added.

“We are continuing to work on the combinations. Today I think the two players scored goals and helped us.

“We can continue to work to find the best performance with each player.”
