However, the hosts went into the break level, after Michail Antonio finished off a well-worked move.
The result means Liverpool now have 62 points, three more than Manchester City who defeated Arsenal 3-1 on Sunday.
City are away to Everton on Wednesday, while Jurgen Klopp’s men welcome Bournemouth on Saturday.
