Manchester City needed another late Raheem Sterling goal, to defeat Southampton 2-1 at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night.

The hosts took the lead through Kevin De Bruyne, before Oriol Romeu equalized with 15 minutes left.

Pep Guardiola’s men poured forward in search of the winner and it duly arrived in the last moments of added time.

The result means City now have 40 points, eight ahead of second-placed Manchester United.

Arsenal hammered Huddersfield 5-0, Liverpool won 3-0 at Stoke City and Swansea lost 1-0 to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Wayne Rooney netted a hat-trick as Everton crushed West Ham 4-0 and Burley won 2-1 away to Bournemouth.
