EPL: Solskjaer speaks on Pogba’s mistake in Man United 2-1 loss to Crystal Palace

Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has defended Paul Pogba, after he lost the ball in the build-up to Crystal Palace’s injury-time winner.

United fell behind in the first half at Old Trafford, following Jordan Ayew’s goal against the run of play.

But after Marcus Rashford missed a penalty in the second half, Daniel James scored an equaliser in the 89th minute.

With United pushing for the winning goal, Pogba was caught in possession in midfield and Palace were able to spark a counter and Patrick van Aanholt’s low strike squeezed underneath David De Gea.

But, Solskjaer has defended the World Cup winner and insists he has “no problem” with the midfielder’s tendency to hold on to possession.

“I thought he, as the rest of the team, grew into the game.

“He won the ball really well for our first goal, he played some great passes.

“He knows and we know he’s going to want the ball all the time.

“He knows that, yeah, he lost the ball, but he’ll lose the ball again and he’ll try again.

“So no problem with that,” Solskjaer told Sky Sports.
