EPL: Solskjaer predict next season’s Premier League title race

Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has said Manchester City and Liverpool will not amass the same huge points totals from last season again.

City were crowned champions with 98 points, one more than Liverpool, as the Reds became the side with the most points not to win the title.

Many pundits are claiming that the two sides are head and shoulders above the rest of the teams in the Premier League.

But Solskjaer is expecting the 2019/2020 campaign, to be a much closer race between the top two and the rest.

“The Premier League is a very competitive league.

“What those two teams did last season was exceptional to get 97 and 98 points.

“I don’t think that will happen again. I think we will see a closer race this season.

“There are six teams who want to challenge for a Champions League place, there are one or two teams underneath who would [also] like that.

“But our aim is to focus on ourselves.

“We have to be better, improve, make sure Man Utd is our only focus and I’m sure we’ll get closer to the top,” Solskjaer told reporters in Singapore, ahead of Saturday’s game against Inter Milan.
