EPL: Seaman warns Leno over Arsenal’s first-choice goalkeeping

Former Arsenal goalkeeper, David Seaman, has warned goalkeeper, Bernd Leno that he must be willing to be patient as he waits to replace Petr Cech as Arsenal’s first-choice goalkeeper.

Leno was expected to take over from Cech as Arsenal’s No.1 following his £22.5million move from Bayer Leverkusen during the summer transfer window, but the German international is yet to be handed a debut by the Gunners manager, Unai Emery, with Cech keeping his place in the team despite some questionable performances.

But Seaman believes it would be wrong for Emery to replace Cech with Leno in Arsenal’s starting XI because he arrived at the Emirates for a significant fee in the summer.

“Just because he cost a lot of money does not mean he goes straight into the team. “He has to be patient.” Metro UK quoted him as saying.

“Petr Cech has done nothing wrong in goal.

“Ok, so he is adjusting to playing with the ball from the box. But he has been able to contribute to the team and has done nothing to cause him to be left out.”
