EPL: Sarri submits names of 2 top strikers to Chelsea board following 2-2 with Man United

Chelsea boss, Maurizio Sarri, has again submitted a list of two top-ranked strikers to the club’s board following their 2-2 draw with Manchester United on Saturday.

According to Daily Mail, the club are willing to back the Italian’s request to sign a new centre-forward in January.

Chelsea lost ground to Manchester City and Liverpool over the weekend as they rescued a point against Manchester United.

Chelsea dominated the game in the first half, but the lack of an in-form striker was a clear issue as Alvaro Morata disappointed again.

The newspaper reports that the Blues are prepared to sign a top-class striker for Sarri in the winter transfer window.

Sarri has submitted a list of top-class strikers such as Krzysztof Piatek and Mauro Icardi to the club.

Inter Milan’s Icardi would be Sarri’s first choice, but Chelse understand it will be a huge task to convince the club to part with their captain mid-season.

The Italians would also demand a huge transfer fee, and could cost Chelsea over £90million.

A release clause of £97.5m does not activate until the summer and Inter are in the midst of efforts to convince Icardi to sign a new deal.

Genoa’s Piatek would be the preferred back-up and Chelsea think it might be easier to lure the Pole away from Italy than convince Inter to sell Icardi.

Piatek has been an instant hit in Italy, scoring 13 goals in just nine appearances this season.

Genoa signed Piatek last summer for just £3.5m, but are set to make a significant profit on the frontman should they decide to cash in.
