EPL: Sarri singles out Chelsea player in 3-0 win over Southampton

Chelsea manager, Maurizio Sarri has identified midfielder, Ross Barkley as the Blues player that played ‘very well’ in his side’s 3-0 win over Southampton on Sunday in the Premier League.

Goals from Eden Hazard, Ross Barkley and Alvaro Morata ensured victory for the Stamford Bridge club.

Sarri, who was happy with Barkley, said that the England international has improved in his style of play.

“[Barkley] played very well. I am really happy with him,” Metro UK quoted Sarri as saying at post-match.

“From the beginning he has improved day by day, week by week and match by match, so I am very happy with him and for him, for the goal, for the national team.

“I think he had a very serious injury in the previous season, but I think he is improving. … I said to him from the first day that he has great quality — physical and technical quality. But you have to improve from the tactical point of view, but now he has improved [tactically].

“I don’t know, but potentially, he is a great player.

“He has quality, very important qualities in the physical and [technical] point of view. Now he is improving in the tactical point of view. He will become a very important player in England and for the national team.”

Chelsea will now take on Manchester United in their next Premier League fixture.
