EPL: Sarri reveals why Chelsea lost 2-1 to Wolves, blames one player

Chelsea boss, Maurizio Sarri, has blamed striker, Alvaro Morata, for his side’s 2-1 loss to Wolves on Wednesday.

The Italian said the striker missed a lot of chances to put the Blues ahead in the game.

Sarri said this in his post match press conference from Molineux after Chelsea lost 2-1 to a spirited Wolves comeback.

The Blues took the lead through Ruben Loftus-Cheek on his first Premier League start of the season, but conceded twice in four minutes and could not pull back a goal despite a late onslaught.

Raul Jimenez and Diego Jota’s strikes means that the Blues have lost twice in three Premier League games and are now ten points behind leaders Manchester City.

Chelsea face City on Saturday evening at Stamford Bridge.

Speaking on why Chelsea lost the game, Sarri told post match congress, “I don’t know about that. We could have scored four or five goals. We missed them,” talking about Morata.

“I don’t know, but I think it is more important to talk about our attitude, the first goal.

“We were not the same team. It was not for me. I have to understand why. Only for a goal. We had to play 35 minutes after that.

“If you had asked me the same question after 55 minutes I would say I was happy. We lost everything. It can happen, but I don’t think it. It was without reaction.

“I think that we played very well for 55 minutes. After the goal, it was an accident because we were in full control of the match.

“We were suddenly a different team, I don’t know why. I am really very worried, not for the result but for the fact we didn’t respond to the first goal.”
