Chelsea manager, Maurizio Sarri has dropped French defender, Kurt Zouma from his 25-man pre-season squad.

The future of the defender at Chelsea is now in serous doubt.

The Blues boarded a 15-hour flight to Australia on Wednesday and will begin their pre-season campaign against Perth Glory next Monday.

But Zouma will play no part in Chelsea’s preparations as he did not travel with the squad.

The 23-year-old was sidelined for nine months due to a cruciate ligament injury he suffered two years ago.

But the French defender impressed during his season-long loan at Stoke City last season, although he was unable to prevent the club from being relegated to the Championship

However, new summer signing Jorginho has been included in the squad along with Alvaro Morata, David Luiz, Cesc Fabregas and Tiemoue Bakayoko.

Danny Drinkwater has been linked with a move away but has also travelled to Australia.

Sarri will also begin Chelsea’s pre-season schedule without a recognised first-team goalkeeper as both Thibaut Courtois and Willy Caballero are on holiday after featuring at the World Cup.

Full squad:

GOALKEEPERS: Marcin Bulka, Jared Thompson, Bradley Collins

DEFENDERS: David Luiz, Marcos Alonso, Emerson, Davide Zappacosta, Ola Aina, Michael Hector, Tomas Kalas, Fikayo Tomori

MIDFIELDERS: Jorginho, Cesc Fabregas, Danny Drinkwater, Tiemoue Bakayoko, Ross Barkley, Ethan Ampadu, Mario Pasalic, Kasey Palmer.

FORWARDS: Alvaro Morata, Tammy Abraham, Pedro, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Lucas Piazon, Charly Musonda
