Chelsea legend, Ruud Gullit, has disclosed that the club cannot cope without forward, Eden Hazard being included in manager, Maurizio Sarri’s squad this season.
Gullit believes the Blues will struggle without the Belgium international.
“There were rumours that Real Madrid wanted Eden Hazard in the summer,” Gullit told BBC Sport.
“It was crucial that Chelsea kept hold of the Belgian.”
Gullit added: “Without him, it is going to be very difficult for them. He is the one player who poses a consistent threat.
“On Sunday he was fouled five time – more than twice as much as any other player on the pitch – and Newcastle constantly had four or five defenders around him in an attempt to nullify his threat.
“He is world-class but it would be interesting to see how Chelsea cope without him.”
Hazard helped Belgium to reach the 2018 FIFA World Cup semi-finals before a 2-0 win over England in the third-place playoff.
The 27-year-old came off the bench in Chelsea’s 3-0 win against Huddersfield Town before a 3-2 victory over Arsenal in the London derby at Stamford Bridge.
