Former Manchester United captain, Roy Keane, has ripped Paul Pogba apart over his recent displays for Manchester United and says his attitude is a huge problem for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Pogba was criticised for his performance in the 4-0 drubbing against Everton at the weekend, where he walked straight down the tunnel at the end of the game while his manager apologised to the travelling support.
The France midfielder later offered an apology of his own on Sky Sports, saying United players had “disrespected” the club and need to change their mentality, but Keane wasn’t impressed by his remarks.
“I wouldn’t believe a word he says. No meaning behind it. I don’t even think he believed what he was saying there.
“He’s on about being a teammate, well if you’re going to be a good teammate you’ve got to run back, you’ve got run back when you’re defending. He said it got a bit heated after the Everton game, I heard they were actually throwing hair gel at each other it got that heated.
“The guy is a talented boy, but we’re saying the same things over and over again. The number of times I’ve seen him in games where he’s not sprinting back or running back. He’s talking about body language, throwing his arms up in the air, he’s a big problem for United.
“Graeme [Souness] spoke earlier that you need good examples at your football club, you need senior players. Listen he’s a mature player, he’s played in big competitions, he’s won big trophies, and I don’t think he leads by example from what I see.
“I don’t know what he’s like around the training ground or when they travel, but he mentioned body language and pride, I don’t see it, I don’t see it in his performances. And my eyes don’t lie to me.
“I’m not disagreeing he’s a talented player, but you need more than just talent. We talk about the real top players, the great players, they make their team better and they make their teammates better. He doesn’t do that. He plays for himself,” Keane said on BT Sport.
