Machester United legend, Rio Ferdinand says he is happy that Paulo Dybala didn’t join Manchester United this summer.
Ferdinand said the Argentine forward does not have the right “minerals” to play for the club.
The former England defender made the claim after the Juventus forward was linked with United and Tottenham Hotspur over the summer.
Juventus and United had been in talks this summer over a potential deal that would have involved Romelu Lukaku heading to Juventus and Dybala the other direction.
But the move didn’t materialise for reasons including the player’s desire to stay in Italy and his wage demands. Lukaku moved to Inter Milan instead.
Speaking after United thumped Chelsea 4-0 at Old Trafford on Sunday, Ferdinand said the Reds have got things right with their transfer policy.
“A lot of players have declined coming to Man United in recent years. They’ve chosen somewhere else,” he told the Daily Star.
“But I don’t know how Dybala had the audacity to turn them down when he’s on the bench at Juventus. He needs to start playing some football.
“Maybe he’s thinking: ‘I want to be Champions League or I’ll sit on the bench. I’d rather do that than play at Man United’.
“Well, I’m happy he didn’t come then, because you haven’t got the right minerals that I want in a Man United player!”
