EPL Review: Arsenal, Spurs close gap on Leicester City

Danny Welbeck returned from a lengthy injury lay-off, to head home the winner with the last touch of the game, as Arsenal defeated table toppers Leicester City 2-1 at the Emirates on Sunday.

Jamie Vardy had put the Foxes ahead with a drilled penalty in the first half, but the complexion of the match changed, after Danny Simpson was sent off for two bookable offences in the second half.

Theo Walcott levelled the scores, before Welbeck made Arsenal’s domination count.

Their North London rivals, Tottenham Hotspur, also closed the gap at the top to two points, with a battling 2-1 win at Manchester City.

It appeared the hosts were going to get something after the game, when Kelechi Iheanacho cancelled out Harry Kane’s penalty. But Christian Eriksen kept his cool and side-footed home the winner.
