Chelsea’s Russian owner, Roman Abramovich, has delayed sacking Antonio Conte as manager for a number of reasons.
Conte has led the Blues to a second successive FA Cup final, but could still finish the season trophyless, as they face Manchester United on May 19.
Chelsea have struggled in their defence of the Premier League title and currently lie 5th in the Premier League, five points behind 4th-placed Spurs with just four matches remaining.
Conte’s future has been the subject of speculation since September and the team’s poor form early in 2018, saw the rumour mill go into an overdrive.
However, the Daily Mirror claims two reasons have prevented Chelsea from firing him mid-season.
Firstly, it’s claimed Conte would be due £10million in compensation should Chelsea end his contract before the end of the season.
Secondly, the report says Chelsea will avoid paying him any money, should he walk into another job within six months of his Stamford Bridge exit.
Former Borussia Dortmund boss, Thomas Tuchel, is favourite to take over, while Conte himself has been linked with Paris Saint-Germain.
