EPL: Pires gives reasons Arsenal’s board should sign Fellaini this summer

Former Arsenal winger, Robert Pires has urged the club to sign Manchester United star, Marouane Fellaini this summer.

Fellaini’s contract at Old Trafford will expire this summer and the Belgium international is yet to sign a new contract.

The 30-year-old joined United from Everton in 2013 and has since scored 20 goals for the club in 155 appearances.

The Gunners are aiming to strengthen their squad, with new manager, Unai Emery determined to steer the club to trophies in his first season at the helm.

Pires, however, believes Fellaini would be a good singing for the North London club.

In an interview with Sky Sport, Pires said: “Yeah, why not? Everybody knows Marouane Fellaini in the Premier League.

“Of course last season it was very, very difficult, the relation with Jose Mourinho.

“But I think he’s a good player, if he wants to join Arsenal I think it would be good news.

“He needs a new start and I think, with his quality, I think he can help Unai Emery and he can help the Arsenal players in the squad.”
