Manchester United star, Andreas Pereira has revealed that manager, Jose Mourinho has decided to play him in a deeper midfield role for the club this season.
Pereira has impressed during pre-season for United and is ready to challenge for a place in Mourinho’s midfield for the upcoming season.
The 22-year-old is capable of playing in a variety of attacking midfield positions, either centrally or on the flank, but the Belgium-born Brazilian has been asked to play as a No.6 during United’s pre-season tour.
“My best position now is as a number six,” Pereira told The National.
“Mr Mourinho put me there and he can see things that others can’t see. Pereira has impressed during United’s pre-season campaign.
“I’m happy as a six and will continue trying my best there.”
He added, “I’m more mature for my experience of being there.
“I read the game faster now. I prepare for the games better, I know my body better and know what I can do. Pereira spent last season on loan at Valencia.
“I don’t make the mistakes I was making before. I’m getting better all the time.
“Jose Mourinho was always in touch and sending me messages.
“It was nice that he kept in touch with me and showed that he had faith in me. I want to repay that faith.
“I think I can make the step now to play every week at Manchester United.”
