West Ham manager, Manuel Pellegrini has revealed why he snubbed Manchester City legend, Yaya Toure after talks with the 35-year-old over a potential summer move to join the Hammers.
According to Pellegrini, Toure wanted to stay in the Premier League, but he told the Ivorian that he could not join West Ham because he already has enough players playing his position at the club.
Daily Star quoted Pellegrini as saying: “I spoke with Yaya. He told me he wanted to stay here in England.
“I explained to Yaya why he could not come here because we have all the player we need in his position.
“He wanted to, but unfortunately, that position was covered here,” he said.
However, Toure’s agent has denied reports that the midfielder was set to join the West Ham this week, insisting, “He would never join a bottom-of-the-table club.”
