Former Manchester United and Liverpool striker, Michael Owen has predicted English Premier League, EPL, clubs that will finish in the top four this season.
Owen believes Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United are going to miss out of finishing in the top four of the Premier League this campaign.
According to him, Tottenham will join Liverpool and Manchester City in the EPL top four this term, while Arsenal and Chelsea will battle it out to complete the top-four.
Owen said this following Man United’s 4-0 defeat to Everton and Arsenal’s 3-2 defeat to Crystal Palace on Sunday.
Speaking on the Premier League top-four, Owen told Flow Sports: “I think Tottenham are good, they’ve got a nice run-in, three games at home and they’ve already got a point advantage over the rest.
“I could make a case for all of the other three with Manchester United being least likely.
“Look at their next two games – Man City and Chelsea – I know they are both at home but they’re going to have to pull a rabbit out of the hat to finish fourth.
“Throughout the season, if you’re forgetting the points and look at them as teams, Tottenham definitely deserve to be in the top four this season, they’ve been very good.
“Out of the other three, it’s very hard to see who deserves it most.”
Owen added: “Under Emery, Arsenal have improved, Chelsea have been disappointing with the players they’ve got, Man Utd’s resurgence… it’s hard to say who deserves that top-four place.
“It’s going to hit hard on the teams who are not going to make it. Man United have probably been budgeting not to make it for the last six months or so, or they thought it was going to be an impossibility, but now they’ve got a little squeak again.
“And that’s why today [against Everton] was so frustrating for them, there’s so much to play for and they play the way they did, it was so disappointing.”
