EPL: Olivier Giroud speaks on Higuain’s arrival at Chelsea

Chelsea star, Olivier Giroud has broken his silence on the arrival of striker, Gonzalo Higuain at Stamford Bridge.

Higuain joined Chelsea from Juventus on a six-month deal and Giroud says it is healthy to have more competition at the club.

Giroud, who starred for Chelsea in their EFL Cup semi-final win over Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday, said he can’t wait to play with Higuain.

The France international has started just six Premier League fixtures this season, while Morata looks set to leave Chelsea on loan before the transfer deadline closes.

Speaking on Higuain’s arrival at Chelsea, Giroud told ESPN: “I think it’s good for the club to have different top strikers.

“It’s a benefit for the team and competition is always good for strikers, so we will try to step up together to help the team reach our target. I can’t wait to play with Higuain.”

Giroud added: “It’s true, I’ve got a very good understanding with Eden, off the pitch and on the pitch.

“But I’m not making the starting XI — the manager makes choices and you have to respect them. Maybe I have to show more in training to be back in the team on a regular basis.”

Chelsea will tackle Bournemouth in the Premier League fixture on Wednesday.
