Chelsea goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois has dismissed talk that the club has an advantage over their Premier League rivals by not participating in European competitions this season.
The Belgium first choice keeper said it is harder to maintain form when they do not play regularly.
Chelsea, who are 9 points clear in the Premier League table, finished 10th last season, and are the only team in the current top four, to have not played in a European competition this season.
Courtois told British media, “The players don’t want to relax. Everybody wants to play in Europe and if you’re in the rhythm of playing a game every three or four days, sometimes you can play better, even though it’s harder at the end of the season.
With 24 games remaining, Antonio Conte’s side appear to be having a strong grip on the league title.
The goalkeeper added, “The other year, when we were champions, we had European football so I don’t think it makes a big difference.”
The Blues will be up against 12th-placed Burnley on Sunday.
