EPL: Nigerian striker scores twice for Manchester United in 5-2 win over Newcastle

Nigerian-born striker, Dilion Hoogewerf scored twice on Saturday as Manchester United came back from two goals down to beat Newcastle United 5-2 in an U18 Premier League match.

Hoogewerf started his sevenh consecutive game for the Red Devils U18s and scored his first brace at Old Trafford.

His teammates Ayodeji Sotona and Shola Shoretire entered the fray in the 68th and 86th minute respectively.

Newcastle led 2-0 after 32 minutes through goals from Josh Gilchrist and Dylan Stephenson.

United were back in the business in the 37th minute as one of the shortest players on the pitch Hoogewerf, with pinpoint precision, powered home a header to make it 2-1.

Nine minutes into the second half, the former Ajax Amsterdam wonderkid completed the turnaround when he found the net with a close range effort from six yards.

Sotona almost scored with his first touch after replacing the injured Mark Helm but his shot was blocked on the line with the Newcastle United goalkeeper beaten.

He was also involved in the build-up for the Red Devils fourth goal in the 74th minute.
