EPL: Neville wants Chelsea coach sacked after 2-2 draw with Man United

Former Manchester United and Everton star, Phil Neville has called for the sack of Chelsea’s assistant coach, Marco Ianni, over his ‘disgraceful’ celebration in front of Jose Mourinho at Stamford Bridge during Saturday’s 2-2 draw against United.

Ianni sparked a brawl in the tunnel after celebrating in Mourinho’s face following Ross Barkley’s 95th minute equalizer.

Mourinho was furious over Ianni’s celebration, but the coach accompanied Maurizio Sarri into United’s dressing room where he apologized and Mourinho accepted his apology.

But Neville doesn’t believe the apology is good enough, as he stated that if he was at Chelsea he’d want to sack Ianni.

“He’s gone straight into the face of Jose Mourinho, Michael Carrick and the Manchester United bench and just celebrated in their face. Absolutely disgraceful,” Metro UK quoted Neville as saying.

“He’s [Mourinho] the innocent one in all this. The guy on the Chelsea bench has run straight past him, celebrated in his face.

“Sarri celebrates. Then it’s this guy here who goes in front of Jose Mourinho. The first one he clenches his fist, and then as he goes back he celebrates again right in front of him. Disgraceful.

“If I was Maurizio Sarri I’d send that guy in and sack him from the club.”
