EPL: N’Golo Kante advises Loftus-Cheek over Chelsea’s starting XI

Chelsea midfielder, N’Golo Kante has advised fellow teammate, Ruben Loftus-Cheek not to be discouraged by his lack of playing time under new Blues manager, Maurizio Sarri.

Loftus-Cheek is yet to start a match for the Blues this season, featuring twice as a substitute in the club’s first four games of the new EPL campaign.

The arrivals of midfielders Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic at Chelsea in the summer have served to massively increase the competition for places in the middle of the park, with N’Golo Kante and Fabregas also vying for a regular spot.

Loftus-Cheek is at the moment way down in the pecking order at the club, despite enjoying an impressive spell on loan at Crystal Palace last year which earned him a place in England’s 2018 FIFA World Cup squad in the summer.

Kante, however, said Loftus-Cheek should keep training hard and hopefully, his time will come when he will be a regular starter in Chelsea’s starting XI.

“When I came to Chelsea (in 2016) Ruben was already here and for sure he is a good player,” Kante was quoted by Metro UK as saying.

“Now he’s in the England squad. He did well last season at Crystal Palace and I think he’s ready to play.

“He’s played some good games and now it’s the manager’s decision. We all have the chance to be at Chelsea and to play with some of the best players in the League.

“We can all learn from that but he needs to keep working, to keep improving and I hope it will come at the right time.”

Meanwhile, Loftus-Cheek has said that he is ready to be patient as he waits for his chance to break into Sarri’s first team squad at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea will face Cardiff City on Saturday in the Premier League fixture at Stamford Bridge.
