Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho has insisted that the club’s former striker, Zlatan Ibrahimovic will not be returning to Old trafford on loan in January.
Earlier this month, reports made the rounds that Mourinho is considering signing the 37-year-old on a loan deal once LA Galaxy’s season finishes.
Romelu Lukaku has failed to score in his last eight matches and Mourinho has admitted he is short of options and is unable to rest the Belgian.
But when asked if there is any possibility of Ibrahimovic returning to United in January, Metro UK quoted Mourinho as saying, “No”.
Meanwhile, Ibrahimovic, has also distanced himself from a move back to United as he wants to properly recover after his first stint in Major League Soccer.
“I think I’m in a situation where I need to have a good balance between work and rest,” Ibrahimovic told Sky Sports.
“Because I came back from injury and because of my age and the load I’m putting in during training.
“It’s not what I have been thinking about because we still have two games, hopefully we make the play-offs.
“Any more on that I don’t know what to say because I haven’t focused on that, I haven’t put any thought on it.”
