Jose Mourinho said his goodbye to staff at the Lowry Hotel, after being sacked by Manchester United on Tuesday.
The Portuguese shook hands with hotel staff and photographers as he left his home of the last 895 days, answering “okay my friend” as they asked how he was, when he climbed into the back of his car.
Mourinho was fired after a chaotic season with disputes with several players and an awful run of results, which left them way off the pace in the league table.
United are sixth in the league table, 19 points adrift of rivals Liverpool – who beat Mourinho’s side 3-1 on Sunday to deliver the final nail to the coffin.
It is estimated that United paid a remarkable £537,000 to put Mourinho up in the Lowry during his two-and-a-half years at the club.
After his second spell as Chelsea boss, Mourinho’s family base remained in London, while he stayed in Manchester.
