EPL: Mourinho’s assistant, Faria shortlisted to takeover at Arsenal

Arsenal are considering hiring Manchester United assistant manager, Rui Faria as a replacement for departing Arsene Wenger this summer.

The 68-yesr-old Frenchman has announced he would be leaving the Gunners at the end of the season after nearly 22 years in charge in north London.

The Gunners are already looking at candidates to succeed Wenger.

The 42-year-old Faria has worked as part of Jose Mourinho’s backroom team since 2001 and was promoted to become the Portuguese first assistant in 2003 after initially working as a fitness coach.

Faria is believed to be keen on taken up a managerial work and would be interested in speaking to Arsenal about replacing Wenger.

The Sun, UK, reports that Faria is part of a 14-man shortlist from Arsenal of potential candidates to replace Wenger and they will narrow it down in the weeks to come.
