Jose Mourinho has given detail of what transpired between him and midfielder, Paul pogba during their 2-0 loss to Tottenham at Wembley on Wednesday.
The former Chelsea boss said he asked the French star to concentrate on his game.
Pogba was replaced by Juan Mata after 63 minutes by a frustrated Mourinho.
The Portuguese and Pogba were captured having heated discussion on the touchline after Phil Jones’ howler put the home side 2-0 up inside 28 minutes.
It was the first time Mourinho has substituted the France international but the manager insisted there was no bad blood between him and his player.
He told British reporters, “In the first-half, with some injury, he came to me and came with a couple of questions I answered.
“In the second-half I decided to make a change and bring Fellaini with different qualities than him, to try to be stronger in midfield with Fellaini and Matic because I wanted Alexis to play as a second striker with Lukaku
“It was just a tactical decision but I lost Fellaini too after a few minutes.
“He [Pogba] is a young player, below 25, of course he has some things to improve.
“But it is not Paul, it is every player. Every player has a chance to improve until the end of his career, especially the ones below 26, 27. They always have areas to improve.”
