Jose Mourinho has named three Manchester United players, who will definitely start against Liverpool, after his heavily rotated side lost 2-1 to Valencia on Wednesday night.
United could have secured top spot in Champions League Group H with a win at the Mestalla, after Juventus suffered a shock loss against Young Boys, but failed to seize the opportunity.
Mourinho’s men went behind early on to a Carlos Soler strike and the hosts doubled their lead after the restart through a Phil Jones own goal, with substitute Marcus Rashford grabbing a late consolation.
Rashford’s strike continued his excellent recent form, having been the man of the match against Fulham and he is one of three players guaranteed to start at Anfield on Sunday.
Asked if Rashford, Jesse Lingard and Ashley Young would come back into the starting XI, Mourinho nodded at his post-match press conference and said: “You have only to find eight more.”
On whether any of the starters against Valencia would retain their place, he continued: “Marcos Rojo no because he’s injured. The rest are not injured, they belong to the squad.
“We have lots of players that were not here today because they are injured, this is our squad, our players, they have a chance to play Sunday.”
