Manchester United boss, Jose Mourinho has blamed his attacking players for their shock 1-1 draw with Wolves at Old Trafford on Saturday. Rumelu Lukaku, Alexis Sanchez and Jesse Linguard led United’s attack against Wolves.
The Portuguese said he was far from impressed with the display from his attackers, stating that “we deserve the punishment.” Man United took the lead midway through the first half when Fred fired in his first goal for the club from outside the box.
A wonder-strike from Joao Moutinho before the hour mark levelled the match to earn the away side a deserved point.
Mourinho was left fuming with the performance from his attacking players before praising Wolves for picking up a “deserved” point.
“I think the result is fair,” Mourinho was quoted by Express Sports.
“They deserved their point and we deserve the punishment of only getting one point.
“They started better were more aggressive, had more intent and I don’t know why but they were more motivated.
“I was expecting more from my attacking players. There was not enough creativity, movement or dynamism.
“We made it quite easy for them to cope with our supremacy in last 20 minutes. Overall we don’t deserve more than this.
“Our performance was not consistent, not creative and not dynamic.
“The way we started we were lucky to be the first team to score. From a metal point of view their approach was more for a football match than ours.”
