EPL: Mourinho praises two Manchester United players after 2-1 win over Leicester City

Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho has singled out two of his players, Luke Shaw and Andreas Pereira for praise after their 2-1 win over Leicester City on Friday.

Mourinho addressed his entire Manchester United squad on Monday after the victory over Leicester City.

It was goals from Paul Pogba and Shaw that ensured United secured the win in their first Premier League game of the season at Old Trafford.

Metro UK reports that after beating Leicester, Mourinho took the opportunity to deliver an upbeat message to his players as a group, and showed praises on Shaw and Pereira.

In his speech to the players, the former Chelsea manager urged them to remember what they are capable of and what they managed to achieve last season.

United failed to win a trophy last season but the Portuguese manager considers last season’s second-place finish behind Manchester City as one of his biggest achievements.

While addressing his men, Mourinho reserved special words of praise for Shaw and Pereira who both impressed in the win over Leicester.

Pereira, who returned from a season-long loan at Valencia, is making a strong case to be a regular in Mourinho’s midfield after his excellent display against Leicester.

Mourinho described the 22-year-old midfielder’s performance against Leicester as “phenomenal.”

Shaw started at left-back with Ashley Young missing all of United’s preparations due to his holiday after England’s World Cup campaign.

The 23-year-old was unhappy with his treatment from Mourinho last season and the United manager even went public with his criticism of the left-back.

But Shaw has started this season brightly and Mourinho recognised the defender’s improvement during a private chat with the players.

Manchester United will be on a trip to Brighton on Sunday.
