Jose Mourinho has told Manchester United to provide him with two new midfielders this summer among whom is Totteham’s Victor Wanyama.
Wanyama’s consistency at Tottenham has not gone unnoticed as he remains a key component of Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
The 26-year-old, who returned from injury in January, recently completed his first 90 minutes in the Premier League for six months.
Despite Wanyama’s past form, the Kenya international has struggled to reclaim his starting place and United believe there may be an opportunity to sign him.
Wanyama has a contract at Tottenham that ties him to the club until 2021, and Spurs are not believed to be interested in selling him.
A source at Old Trafford said Manchester United want a partner for Nemanja Matic in midfielder and someone capable of pushing Paul Pogba, Juan Mata and others for a starting place.
Pogba’s stock at United has taken a hit in recent weeks with Mourinho dropping the Frenchman for several crucial games including the Champions League first leg against Sevilla.
Wanyama has played in the Premier League since 2013, making over 130 appearances and also has experience in Europe.
