Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho has insisted that he still enjoys an excellent relationship with both Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial.
This was against reports of friction between the Portuguese boss and the French duo.
Midfielder, Pogba has been consistently linked with a shock move to Barcelona after supposedly falling out with Mourinho over the side’s tactics last season, while he was also mystified by comments from his manager about his performances at the World Cup.
Martial, meanwhile, was criticised by the former Chelsea boss for not returning to the United States for the club’s pre-season tour after the birth of his second child.
However, the former Inter Milan manager was adamant that he has a happy camp.
“I have my players. I like my players. I like to work with my players,” Metro UK quoted him as saying ahead United’s clash with Leicester City on Friday.
“One lie repeated 1,000 times is still a lie. But the perception of the people is that it’s true, but it’s still a lie. So when you repeat 1,000 times that the relationship with my players is not good, it is a lie.
“But again the perception of the people that read is different. But I like my players. I like my group.”
Speaking specifically on Pogba, he said, “He arrived on Monday, happy, proud, with desire to work. He worked amazingly well on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
“He’s one of the players I need to speak to see how physically and mentally strong he feels. It’s the same conversation that I’m going to have with Young, Fellaini, Lingard to know how they feel to try to give us the help.
“If they feel they can help us [against Leicester on Friday, if it’s 20 minutes, 10 minutes, half an hour. We don’t have many solutions and we want to go with everything we have.
“The way I see Paul is well is very well, but we need the words with that small group to see if they can give us a hand. It’s an important match tomorrow. Every point is important. We have to try the best with these players.”
