Chelsea striker, Alvaro Morata, has revealed how the club failed him and how he nearly left this summer. The Spaniard said he considered quitting the club this summer after failing to make Spain’s World Cup squad. Chelsea paid a massive £60m for Morata in 2017 to bring Morata from Real Madrid.
Former Chelsea boss, had hoped the Spaniard replicate the form he showed when they were at Juventus together.
But the striker proved a flop in his first season and by the end of the campaign was surged by Olivier Giroud in the starting XI.
Morata missed out of Spain selection from the World Cup due to his lacklustre performances for Chelsea.
The striker told AS that he considered moving back to La Liga or Serie A in the summer.
“Yes, of course I considered returning to Spain or Italy,” he admitted.
“But one cannot always escape reality.
“I left here (Spain) to be at the World Cup and I did not go.”
Asked by AS if he would consider joining Real for a third spell, Morata said, “There has never been a possibility.
“I think they are all things that have not existed.
“Of course, it was my worst moment, when you start playing football and watching the World Cups on TV, it’s your biggest dream.”
