EPL: Monreal in discussions to extend Arsenal stay

Arsenal left-back, Nacho Monreal has revealed that dialogue between him and the club management has started over extending his contract beyond the end of this season.

Monreal, who joined the Gunners from Malaga for £10m in 2013, is entering the final months of his contract which is set to expire in June 2019.

The 33-year-old has established himself as Arsenal’s first-choice left-back despite competition from Sead Kolasinac, since his arrival.

The Spanish international would have no shortage of suitors if he were available on a free transfer but he is adamant that he wants to remain at the Emirates as he is ‘happy’ at the club.

“At the moment we are talking with the club. I’ve always said I am really happy, I feel very happy playing for Arsenal,” Metro UK quoted him as saying.

“I came six years ago. I have a good relationship with them. We are in contact in any moment, so don’t worry about that. I am happy here. That is the most important thing.”
