Manchester United midfielder, Juan Mata, has said that he will not push for a move away from Old Trafford during the transfer window in January.
Mata has less than a year on his current United’s contract.
The Spaniard will be free to negotiate with teams outside of the Premier League from the beginning of next year.
But, The Sun is now reporting that the 30-year-old is keen to remain at United and the Red Devils are desperate to begin talks with the former Chelsea star, who is represented by his father.
The report added that United were hopeful that an agreement can be reached in the next few weeks, but the midfielder’s main priority is more playing time under manager, Jose Mourinho’s squad.
Mata, who has started only two games in the Premier League for Mourinho’s side, joined United from Chelsea for £37.1 million from Chelsea.
He would hope to feature for Man United when they take on Chelsea in their next fixture in the Premier League on October 20.
