Former Premier League champions, Manchester United are considering a January swoop for Atletico Madrid defender, Lucas Hernandez.
Hernandez has also been linked with a move to join Real Madrid in recent weeks.
According to France Football, United manager, Jose Mourinho is still in search of defensive options and is ready to pay Hernandez’s release clause of £72million.
The French newspaper claimed that the Old Trafford club are believed to be admirers of the 22-year-old World Cup winner, who is as adept at centre-back as at left-back.
Hernandez’s versatility makes him an attractive prospect to Mourinho and United, particularly after a shaky start to the 2018/19 Premier League campaign that saw them lost to Tottenham and Brighton.
United chiefs failed to deliver a new centre-back for their manager in the summer which led to friction between Mourinho and executive vice-chairman, Ed Woodward, but the club are preparing to make amends in the January transfer window.
