Manchester United squad have turned on each other over the fact that their salaries will drop by 25% next season, FourFourTwo reports.

United’s 1-1 draw with Huddersfield last Sunday meant that the club will finish outside the top four and will compete in the Europa League next season.

The Old Trafford’s budget and forecasting is based on the assumption that the club will at least finish 4th and qualify for the Champions League.

A season outside of Europe’s elite competition costs the club around £40m and threatens long-term sponsorship deals.

To counter against this, United install clauses in contracts that mean player salaries will decrease by 25% if the club failed to qualify for the Champions League.

It is now understood that the players are blaming each other for their collapse in the final stages of the season and the players have not taken responsibility for the fact they’re set to finish outside the top four.
