Manchester United boss, Jose Mourinho, has informed midfielder, Paul Pogba that he has played his final match as the club’s captain, according to Daily Star.

The newspaper also reports that Manchester United players have backed the manager’s decision.

The former Chelsea boss has been publicly critical of the French star after dropping the midfielder from his starting XI towards the end of last season.

The infighting between the player and his manager escalated once again after the Frenchman’s performance against Wolves last Saturday.

Pogba was faulty for the Wolves’ equaliser after losing possession in midfield.

The Portuguese informed the France international that he will no longer captain United.

He questioned Pogba’s attitude and told his squad at the club’s Carrington training base that the Frenchman does not represent what a captain should be.

The newspaper claimed that the players were “happy” with the decision.

Pogba captained the Red Devils for their opening two matches of the campaign before Antonio Valencia took over the armband after returning to full fitness.
