EPL: Man United legend, Eric Cantona declares interest to replace Mourinho

Manchester United legend, Eric Cantona, has declared interest to replace Jose Mourinho as the club’s manager.

The former United star criticised the Portuguese tactics and saying he (Cantona) would restore Manchester United’s attacking style of football if he was to replace the manager.

Mourinho joined the Manchester outfit in 2016 and has since won the Europa League and EFL Cup at the Theatre of Dreams.

United also finished second on the Premier League table last season.

However, a number of United fans are not happy with the football on display under Mourinho.

Cantona told the Mail, UK, that Mourinho is a fine coach but slammed his team’s style of football and claimed Manchester City boss, Pep Guardiola or himself (Cantona) would be a better fit for Manchester United

“I like Mourinho. He has a good personality but not for United – they should have [Pep] Guardiola as coach.

“He should be there, but he is doing magic with that other club. The club I cannot name.

“It is early in the season… too early to tell. Manchester United is a great club and will always be great.

“They will win things, I know they will. But the way they play? Not good. The manager has them playing the wrong way for the fans. No fun, no creativity.

“I would like to coach and if they call me I would go. I would enjoy it. They know where I am. Then we would play creative football again.

“It would be great for the fans, like it was with Alex Ferguson – he allowed players to be creative, treated them as individuals. All felt loved. He was always praising. A good man, a good leader.”
