EPL: Luke Shaw mocks Pogba after penalty miss in Man United 2-1 win over Everton

Manchester United defender, Luke Shaw, has mocked his teammate, Paul Pogba, after the Frenchman missed another spot-kick yesterday.

Shaw joined critics who are struggling to fathom the logic behind Pogba’s penalty taking technique.

Pogba took 26 stuttering steps in his run-up before kicking the ball during United’s 2-1 win over Everton at Old Trafford.

Unfortunately for the Frenchman, that method failed to distract Everton goalkeeper, Jordan Pickford, who produced a tremendous save.

Pogba, however, spared his own blushes by converting the rebound

United boss, Jose Mourinho, had saluted Pogba’s courage in stepping forward to take the spot-kick but added that the midfielder may have to alter his method.

Shaw now appears to agree judging by his latest Twitter post.

“Make a comeback in your career and renew your contract. #ThingsYouCanDoDuringPogbasPenaltyRunUp,” read Shaw’s tweet directed at Pogba.

Shaw recently completed a remarkable turnaround by signing a new long-term contract, cementing his place in the United side and returning to the England fold, having previously been frozen out by Mourinho.

Pogba, meanwhile, admitted he may have second thoughts about repeating his penalty technique next time he is in the same situation.

“I was lucky, the important thing is it went in and I scored the goal, good for us and me,” Pogba told Sky Sports.

“After we carried on and had other chances, most important thing was the win.”

Asked if he will change his run-up, Pogba replied, “I always try and destabilise the keeper, maybe they know how I take penalties.

“Maybe I should practice to change it, if the keepers know my step.”
