EPL: Lukaku aims dig at Mourinho’s style of football

Manchester United striker, Romelu Lukaku, has fired a thinly-veiled dig at Jose Mourinho’s style of football.

Mourinho was fired as United manager last December, following a 3-1 loss at Liverpool.

The Portuguese has since been replaced by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who has won his first five games in charge.

Lukaku has also netted three goals in three matches under the caretaker manager.

The £75million striker has been encouraged to face goal more often in a way that suits United’s faster attacking style under Solskjaer, rather than holding the ball up and slowing the game down as a target man.

“He understands what type of striker you are and he plays to your strengths.

“From the first day when I came back in, he did a total analysis of my game — I was really surprised.

“He’s helped me a lot. He talks to me all the time and I like that. He really wants me to face the goal because he knows that is when I’m at my most dangerous, moving off the shoulder of the defenders.

“He plays in a way that I like to play and also the rest of the team. We are back to ourselves and it’s good to see the players enjoy and win games,” Lukaku said.
