EPL: Loftus-Cheek sends strong message to Sarri ahead of Chelsea , Cardiff clash

Chelsea midfielder, Ruben Loftus-Cheek has said that he is ready to be patient as he waits for his chance to break into manager, Maurizio Sarri’s first team squad at Stamford Bridge.

The 22-year-old stated this ahead of his side’s English Premier League (EPL) fixture against Cardiff City on Saturday.

The England international is yet to start a match for the Blues this season, featuring twice as a substitute in the club’s first four games of the new EPL campaign.

The arrivals of midfielders, Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic at Chelsea in the summer have served to massively increase the competition for places in the middle of the park, with N’Golo Kante and Fabregas also vying for a regular spot.

Loftus-Cheek is at the moment way down in the pecking order at the club, despite enjoying an impressive spell on loan at Crystal Palace last year which earned him a place in England’s 2018 FIFA World Cup squad in the summer.

“Being 22 feels quite old, considering some of the boys were playing when they were 17 or 18,” Loftus-Cheek told Sky Sports.

“I’d like to have more appearances at Chelsea by now, but it’s just the way my journey has gone, and I just have to be patient with it.

“I can see it as a positive; I’m playing for England, playing well when I play, and that’s without too many appearances so it’s still raw in that sense.”

Loftus-Cheek hopes to feature when the West London club clash with Cardiff City this weekend in the Premier League.
