Chelsea manager, Frank Lampard has said that Forward Willian’s new jersey number at Stamford Bridge has not been confirmed.
Lampard stated this on Tuesday after Chelsea’s 2-1 victory over Barcelona in a pre-season friendly clash in Japan.
Lampard’s side defeated the La Liga champions at the Saitama Stadium, thanks to goals from Tammy Abraham and Ross Barkley.
DAILY POST had reported that Willian, in an interview with Brazilian TV show, Desimpediodos on Sunday, stated that he will wear the No. 10 shirt for Frank Lampard’s side for the 2019-20 season.
The Brazilian international said: “I was offered the number 10 jersey ahead of next season, and I will take it.”
When asked on Willian’s new jersey number, Lampard was quoted by Football London as telling reporters: “There’s no confirmation on that decision.
“It will be taken in due course. Hopefully, his return to training date will be early August.”
Chelsea will now tackle Reading in their next fixture on Sunday.
