Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, has warned his Manchester United counterpart, Jose Mourinho, that he will have to fight for second place.
Klopp was speaking after his side beat Southampton 2-0 at St Mary’s Stadium, to go within two points of second-placed United.
Roberto Firmino and Mo Salah scored for the Reds, as they turned the heat up on the Red Devils.
United lost 1-0 at Newcastle United earlier in the day and Mourinho admitted they were fighting to be runners-up now.
But Klopp said: “We have to take whatever we can get – I didn’t know United had lost before the game, but we know we’re not far away, and we play against them at least one more time this season.
“The only thing we can do is to win our games, but it will stay tight until the end.”
