Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, has admitted he will draw inspiration from Paris Saint-Germain’s 2-0 win against Manchester United, when they travel to Old Trafford on Sunday.
The Reds can return to the top of the Premier League table by avoiding defeat at the home of their arch rivals.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has lost just once since taking charge at United and it was against PSG in the Champions League.
Klopp, speaking to Sky Sports, says he learnt a leasson from the Ligue 1 champion’s victory.
“Yeah, results wise it was the only team [PSG], but Tottenham played a pretty good game against United to be honest. So what is the blueprint? They were pretty cool with the ball, they passed really a lot and they were really confident, good positioning, passing between the lines, stuff like that, scoring at the right moment.
“And of course, you saw against Chelsea that United can play very, very good without Lingard and Martial, because that was a proper line-up with Mata and Lukaku bringing in. But in the game, when you have to change that, that changes much more because you cannot really adapt. They played the last five or six games before that with the same line-up and then you have to change like this in 15 minutes. That obviously didn’t work out and PSG used that, so that was a bit of luck for PSG.
“But they played really, really good game. Very demanding, looked very in charge for most of the situations, didn’t give them a lot of counter-attacks away which is a massive, massive thing to do in a game against United because whichever line-up they have, how they attack, with – whoever it is – will be quick on these offensive wings. And that’s just good and then from time to time they leave a player up or two, stuff like that, so you need to be really 100% concentrated.
“But PSG did well. Scored good goals in the right moment and that helps in football always,” Klopp said.
